OUR MISSION
“The school community will provide quality learning opportunities through a Christian worldview that affirms Biblical principles and that gives effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.”
Miramar Christian School has been providing a Christian education to the Eastern Suburbs and greater Wellington region since 1979. The kura has three classes catering for tamariki from Years 1 – 8.
It was established by a group of whānau at Gateway Baptist Church, committed to the vision of Christian education that would equip young people for a life of service to God and the community.
The kura is an interdenominational Christian school. As an integrated state kura it receives government funding for staffing and operations. The land and buildings are owned by The Peniel Trust. The New Zealand Christian Proprietors Trust (NZCPT) collect the attendance dues to meet the cost of maintenance and building programmes.
We are an interdenominational Christian kura and align ourselves with the NZCPT theological framework.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe:
1. the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our only authority in all matters of faith and practice.
2. in One God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit:
- God, the Father, is creator and sustainer of all things
- Jesus Christ, His Son, is both human and divine. He is the ultimate revelation of the Father and risen Lord and Saviour of the world. He will return to the earth at a future point in history
- the Holy Spirit is the person who brings God’s life into the lives of believers, working within them to transform them into the likeness of the Son and empowering them to serve God in real ways in this life.
3. in the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross for the sins of the world.
4. eternal life and salvation are by faith in Jesus Christ alone.

OUR LOCATION
The kura is set in attractive grounds on the northern end of Miramar Peninsula (opp. Weta Cave). For more information about our location on the peninsula please click here.
BUILDING & FACILITIES
The kura has three fully-equipped classrooms, administration block, hall, playing field, and netball court. Across the road we are able to access the large sporting grounds of Miramar Park, and we are a short walk from Scorching Bay, one of Wellingtons most popular beaches.
Over recent years the school has been repainted inside and out, had an internet upgrade and a new exterior fence installed.
Our classrooms are both well-equipped and resourced, catering for modern learning needs. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard along with one-to-two devices to allow the ākonga to enquire, create and discover. Educational software applications we use include: Mathletics, Study Ladder and Sunshine Classics. To support continued learning at kura and home, ākonga and teaching staff use See-Saw (Years 1-3) and Google Classroom (Years 4-8), enabling real time interaction and support.
These facilities are upgraded on an ongoing basis to sustain optimum learning environments.
