“For each learner, the school community will provide quality learning opportunities that encourage Christian perspectives and affirm Biblical principles.”
Miramar Christian School has been providing a Christian education to the Eastern Suburbs and greater Wellington region since 1979. The School has three classes catering for children from Years 1 – 8.
It was established by a group of parents at Gateway Baptist Church, committed to the vision of Christian education that would equip young people for a life of service to God and the community.
The school is an interdenominational Christian school. As an integrated school it receives government funding for staffing and operations. The land and buildings are owned by the Proprietors, Gateway Baptist Church Peniel Trust, who charge attendance dues to meet the cost of maintenance and building programmes.
Being a ministry of Gateway Baptist Church, we align ourselves with their Church constitutions as to what we believe, however we are an interdenominational school.
To provide and promote a Christ centered environment where students experience God. To develop personal commitment that is expressed through their Godly Character which allows the student to excel (Competence) and is expressed through their involvement with the Community.
We honour God.
We value developing Godly character and integrity in our lives.
We value God’s involvement in our lives.
We lead for God.
We value the giving of our best and the development of excellence.
We value the talents, gifts and abilities that are unique to each learner.
We value learning; the acquisition and application of knowledge, in the context of a Biblical world view.
We serve God.
We value justice and mercy.
We value cultural diversity and inclusiveness.
We value being good stewards of the resources in our community.
We value making a difference in our school, local and wider community.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
1. the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our only authority in all matters of faith and practice.
2. in One God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit:
- God, the Father, is creator and sustainer of all things
- Jesus Christ, His Son, is both human and divine. He is the ultimate revelation of the Father and risen Lord and Saviour of the world. He will return to the earth at a future point in history
- the Holy Spirit is the person who brings God’s life into the lives of believers, working within them to transform them into the likeness of the Son and empowering them to serve God in real ways in this life.
3. in the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross for the sins of the world.
4. eternal life and salvation are by faith in Jesus Christ alone.

BUILDING & FACILITIES
The school has four fully-equipped classrooms, administration block, hall, playing field, and netball court. Across the road we are able to access the large sporting grounds of Miramar Park, and we are a short walk from Scorching Bay, one of Wellingtons most popular beaches.
Over recent years earthquake strengthening has been undertaken, new shelving and flooring has been fitted in classrooms and a high speed fibre network has been installed.
Our classrooms are both well-equipped and resourced, catering for modern learning environments. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard along with a range of computers and iPads to allow the students to enquire, create and discover. Educational software applications we use include: Mathletics, study ladder and sunshine online. To support continued learning at school and at home students and teaching staff use google drive enabling real time interaction and support.
These facilities are upgraded on an ongoing basis to ensure computer technology is an important part of the learning environment.
